Authenticating Identity series #6: Wisdom to Live Whole

authenticatingidentity520x280
James’ letter found in the New Testament is likely the earliest of all the writings in the New Testament. It is filled with straightforward and practical teaching about the faith of followers of Jesus Christ. James refuses to pull any punches, but with the immense compassion he challenges those who read it to take seriously their walk of faith, recognizing that how we live reflects who we are. Then, as today, there are many who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ, yet their lives do not reflect their identity as children of God. This series will challenge each of us to live lives of faith full of action that is consistently and continually authenticating our identity and Christ’s body.

The Song in My Heart series #3 “Amid the Aftermath”

thesonginmyheartseries520x280
David’s life is the most chronicled in the Old Testament. Through the lens of Scripture each generation has had the opportunity to not only read about his highs and lows and his victories and his failures, but to scrutinize them as well. Few of us would be comfortable with our lives being recorded and studied as David’s has been for generation after generation. Yet, the fact that Scripture provides us with such and honest and thorough narrative of His life allows us to relate to his story and to be challenged by it. What we find in David is a flawed man, just like you and I. However, that is not his whole story, he was also a man who lived a life of complete trust in God. His trust wasn’t a blind trust but one rooted in a keen understanding of who God is and how He operates. As a result, David was labeled, by God, a man after God’s own heart. David’s complete trust resulted in the glory of God being displayed time and again in the highs and lows of his life. And his story is an encouragement to each one of us that our flawed life can be a song revealing God’s glory when we allow our life story to be a display of our complete dependence on God on every page and in every chapter.

The Lost Symbol series #7: “Triumphant King”

thelostsymbol520x280
There is both good and bad in the fact that the cross has become a very familiar sight in our world. We see it everywhere we turn from buildings to jewelry. The message of the cross is so simple a child can understand, yet it is so rich that even if we were to spend every waking moment of our entire lives studying it we would fail to mine all the riches to be found there. In this series we will seek to mine some of those riches and spark a passion in each of us to pray as the hymn writer wrote “Jesus, keep me near the cross.”

Desired Reward

2013 has been a year of blessing for MorningStar. In the midst of the everyday challenges that we faced throughout the year we also saw the grace and power of God on display. As we close out the year, we want to reflect, rejoice, and look ahead to prepare for God’s continuing work in the new year. We find encouragement and hope in this message as we focus on the truth that God is the rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.
