‘This is us’ Sermon Series Starts this SUnday

We will begin a new series at First Light Church this Sunday, April 28, entitled, “This is Us”. Irrespective of the condition of our relationship with family, we all have one. For some, just the thought of family elicits pain and bitterness, for others it stokes endearing emotion, and yet others have more questions than answers about their experience of family. Family is a universal reality awash in a diversity of experiences that deeply impact our lives. Like it or not, its true.

Within us there is a desire to be connected and known by others who welcome us as we are and make us feel secure in our own skin. We innately long, perhaps even ache, for a family, a clan, a tribe, a place we call home.  Our hope in engaging the topic of family for several weeks is to look into God’s heart for every family and gain wisdom regarding how to handle our familial relationships in ways that make the most of both the high times and the hard times.

There are a multitude of narratives in the book of Genesis that follow family relationships and provide descriptions of how God redeems our family stories when He is invited into those relationships.  He is not going to push His way in, but when He is invited and allowed to have a central place in our lives and our relationships, there is hope, healing, and meaning injected into the challenges, the celebrations, and everything in between.

If you find yourself searching for some answers in your relationships with family I would encourage you to join us at one of our campuses or listen online as we dig into what God teaches us in the book of Genesis about how to develop and maintain healthy, long-lasting family connections that weather our brokenness and celebrate our connectedness.  You can find service times and the livestream at www.firstlight.church.
