2013 has been a year of blessing for MorningStar. In the midst of the everyday challenges that we faced throughout the year we also saw the grace and power of God on display. As we close out the year, we want to reflect, rejoice, and look ahead to prepare for God’s continuing work in the new year. We find encouragement and hope in this message as we focus on the truth that God is the rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.
The final woman found in the genealogy of Jesus Christ is Mary. This young girl displays amazing faith and obedience to the Lord as she is faced with what others surely deemed a disgraceful circumstance. While Mary could have been overcome by her situation, instead she chose to praise God and ponder His amazing grace throughout her life.
As Jesus enters Jerusalem in what is known as the Triumphal Entry, He is surrounded by crowds who are praising Him as God’s true king. The religious leaders view this as blasphemy and demand that Jesus silence the crowd. Jesus’ response to the religious leaders is somewhat peculiar. Instead of a simply “no,” Jesus makes a statement about rocks crying out. His statement uncovers for us a great deal about our purpose on earth and the outcome if we choose to be a silent majority rather than a vocal public witness to who Jesus is.
This message was presented on MorningStar Baptist Church’s family day/anniversary Sunday.
